Short Biography
Charlie Chaplin was born on April 16, 1889, in London England. He was born with the name Charles Spencer Chaplin. Charles Chaplin, his father, and his mother, Hannah Chaplin, were inducted into the music hall of fame, paving the way for him in the world of performing. His first onstage moment was when he was five years old; he sang a song that was supposed to be sang by his mother, but she become ill at the time of the performance so Charlie stood in and performed for her.
In 1910, at the young age of 21, Charlie Chaplin came to the United States. He was brought to New York, which is known as the performing arts city.
Two years later, in 1913, Chaplin signed his very first contract at Keystone Entertainment and it was no time, after, that, before he headed to Hollywood, California. His first movie premiered in 1914, which was called, "Making a Living". Chaplin went on to make over 35 movies total in that year alone. His rise in popularity was like nothing anyone had ever seen before, although fame was nothing new to Charlie since he grew up with parents in the entertainment business. The moment that really defined his long career was in 1921 when he starred in, and produced, his first full length film called “The Kid”. From that moment on, people all over the world knew Charlie Chaplin and have fallen in love with his films!
Charlie Chaplin grew up to become one of the most popular and successful actors of all time, and will forever be remembered. Charlie Chaplin passed away on December 25, 1977, in Vevey, Switzerland of natural causes in his sleep.
